The Rwandan Ambassador to France has commended the French justice department’s efforts to apprehend 1994 Genocide suspects. Speaking during a function to mark Rwanda’s 16th Liberation Day, Jacques Kabale, described the relations between both countries as healthy.

Speaking during a function to mark Rwanda’s 16th Liberation Day, Jacques Kabale, described the relations between both countries as healthy.
"There is nothing more beautiful than the right to a fair trial; to entrust the destinies of our country in the people we trust most,” Kabale said.
"Arresting the 1994 Genocide suspects is not only doing justice to survivors in Rwanda, but also a positive step towards ensuring international justice.”
Kabale also expressed gratitude to the French authorities for their contribution in normalising the relations between the two countries.
The envoy told the guests that Rwanda had made significant progress in many aspects following the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
He called upon the Rwandan community in France to participate actively in the August 9 presidential elections so as to fulfil their civic duty.
Over 250 diplomats attended the function.
