THE national men’s sitting volleyball team yesterday left for the United States where they will take part in the 2010 Sitting World Championships set for July 11-18 in UCO Hamilton Field House in Edmond, Okalahoma.

The contingent of 16, which left aboard Ethiopian airways, included 12 players, a coach, team manager, medic, and delegation head.

Before the team’s departure, National Paralympic Committee (NPC) boss Dominique Bizimana, who is also part of the 12-man squad told Times Sport that Rwanda has the ability to upset big teams during the seven day event.

"We were placed in a difficult group (C) which includes defending champions Brazil and African champions Egypt but we have prepared well and should do well,” Bizimana said. Croatia, Hungary and South Korea complete the group.

Other countries in contention include Bosnia, Herzegovina, China, Canada, Libya, Kenya, Iraq, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Serbia, Russia, the Netherlands, German, Morocco, India and Great Britain.
