APR skipper Patrick Mafisango has remained silent about his future after leading the military side to three trophies this season which include the Primus league, Cecafa/Kagame Cup as well as the MTN Peace Cup titles.

Mafisango’s contract with the military side ends with this season. The DR Congo-Rwandan neutralized influential defender is a major transfer target for Tanzania’s Premier league side Simba and local side SC Kiyovu.

Mafisango said yesterday, "It’s true that my contract with APR has come to an end but I will have to wait and see what their (APR) plans are before I decided on my future.”
"I can’t make any decision now but I will come out clear after knowing APR want,” said Mafisango, who has openly expressed interest in joining Simba.

The versatile defender cum midfielder was the last minute hero for APR as they beat archrivals Rayon Sport 1-0 to lift the MTN Peace Cup for the fourth successive season.

After the match, Mafisango attributed his team’s victory to experience gained from playing in different competitions locally and on the continent.

"We knew from the start that we could beat them. We have much experience than they do in these kind of games. We were confident throughout the match,” said the Rwandan international.

Both APR and Etincelles will represent the country at next year’s African competitions. APR will play in the Champions League while Etincelles will feature in the CAF Confederations Cup, 22 years after their maiden appearance in a continental competition.

In 1988, Etincelles featured in the Africa Confederations Cup after winning the President’s Cup following a 1-0 win over SC Kiyovu.

They managed to get past the preliminary round after beating Burundi’s Vital’O 1-0 on aggregates but were eliminated by DR Congo’s Karama.
