Wom Bwoy

Gerard Rutayisire alias Wom Bwoy has released his first album dubbed ‘Tugume Tubaho’ consisting of eight tracks after blessing his fans with an Extended Playlist (EP) last year.

Born in June 1998, Rutayisire revealed that the album is about his life experience in the year of 2022, when he embarked in the music industry professionally. The album says a lot about him as a fast rising artiste in Rwanda and mostly as an artiste who wishes his work to last forever even if he is no longer alive.

The multi-genre album has songs like ‘Urihe’,’Kwera’,’Risk’,’Baho’,’Not Now’,’Sorry’,’Yale Yale’ and ‘Kata’, which are of different genres Afro fusion, Dancehall, Hip Hop old school and drill. The album production was done by producers Make it Easy, Genius and Eyo Jovan.

"The reason behind the album title is that as an artist it doesn’t matter if you are still in this life or not, your art lives on forever and as an artiste you live in your art no matter what. People will always still see you through your art and I want my music to speak, inspire people whether I am still here or not. I know I will not be forgotten because as an artiste I will always live through my music,” he said.

"When I was mourning the death of my friend Den Ruhonjeka,” he added, "I was inspired to name my album ‘Tugume Tubaho’ because he went to a recording studio for the first time where I recorded my first song ‘Baho’. Four months later he passed but his work still lives on today even though he is no longer still with us.”

On his EP ‘World of Mind’, composed of seven songs, Rutayisire collaborated with famous rappers Kenny K Shot and Bushali among others. The album is now out on all audio platforms and will be on YouTube on January 10.
