APR vs Rayon

APR is sweating on the fitness on star defender Kalisa Mao three days before its showdown with Rayon Sport in the MTN Peace Cup final.

Kalisa injured his shin three weeks ago and has been sidelined since although glimpses of Albert Ngabo (ankle injury) and Emmanuel Sebanani (fever) in light training yesterday should be a relief for Erik Paske who is chasing for an unprecedented treble having already guided the army side to the Cecafa Kagame Cup and Primus league title.

While efforts to talk to Paske and his assistant Eric Nshimiyimana were futile, the club’s Secretary General Adolphe Kalisa fears that the trio may not recover in time for Sunday’s final.

"It is difficult to say if they will be fit for the game but we have to wait and see.”

Rayon will head into the tie with more confidence following Saturday’s 2-0 win over APR in the Primus League.

The Blues are desper drought and see this as a perfect opportunity to give their loyal and supportive fans something to cheer about.

Since 2004 when they lifted the national league title, Rayon has struggled to match the prowess of APR.
