Who says that there isn’t a presidential contest?

Editor, Foreign news outlets and some dissident politicians will have the entire world believe that there isn’t a credible presidential poll happening on August 9. Victoire Ingabire will have everyone believe that only if she runs will there be a democratic contest; I beg to differ.

Editor,

Foreign news outlets and some dissident politicians will have the entire world believe that there isn’t a credible presidential poll happening on August 9. Victoire Ingabire will have everyone believe that only if she runs will there be a democratic contest; I beg to differ.

The National Electoral Commission (NEC) has received candidature papers from Senator Dr Alvera Mukabaramba (who will be representing Party of Progress and Concord (PPC), Prosper Higiro (Liberal Party), Dr Jean Damascene Ntawukuriryayo (Social Democratic Party (PSD) and, last but not least President Paul Kagame (Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF-Inkotanyi).

Now if you look at all these candidates, each of them has a CV that makes them credible candidates. However, if you compare any of the candidates with Mrs. Ingabire, she will place a poor second to any of the candidates.

So, the question I ask is this, why is everyone acting like she is the "be all and ends all”? She isn’t. Honestly, if she doesn’t run we won’t lack a single thing. After the polls she’ll either be in court, in jail for her crimes, or she’ll slink away and go back wherever she came from.
