Where does the Sports writer get his facts?

Editor, I think that the writer of one of the World Cup pieces, Mr. Hamza Nkuutu, was slightly confused when he was penning “Like England, Rooney is overrated”, which appeared in the sports section in yesterday’s newspaper. While even a blind man will realize that England has had a poor tournament I think that calling Wayne Rooney ‘overrated’ is an injustice.

Editor,

I think that the writer of one of the World Cup pieces, Mr. Hamza Nkuutu, was slightly confused when he was penning "Like England, Rooney is overrated”, which appeared in the sports section in yesterday’s newspaper.

While even a blind man will realize that England has had a poor tournament I think that calling Wayne Rooney ‘overrated’ is an injustice.

And the funny thing is that the writer acknowledges this. He writes, "in the Premier League in which he scored 34 goals in all competitions for Man United”…and then confuses everything by adding, in the same sentence "Rooney has been exposed to lack the material to shine at international level”.

I’m sorry but can you please make up your mind. A 34 goal haul isn’t shabby, and the goals he plundered came against teams bursting with more collective talent than many of the teams in the World Cup.

Sure he’s had a bad tournament, however remember that he simply failed to score in four games. That’s not atrocious. He hasn’t simply become bad because of a bad tourney.

Ask Ronaldo, Messi or Mourinho if they want Rooney to play in their teams. All would say "YES”. I think the writer himself is overrated.
