When shall FIFA introduce technology?

The disallowed England goal. Goaline technology is needed now.

EDITOR,

Watching Sunday’s World Cup games Germany versus England and Mexico versus Argentina, I couldn’t help but notice how pivotal moments in each game were missed by the referee and linesmen.

In the England game, an equalising goal was refused because the officials didn’t realise that the ball had crossed the line. During the Mexico game, the first Argentinean goal was clearly offside.

Why is FIFA so adamant that technology shouldn’t be applied? It works perfectly fine in cricket and tennis, so why not in the most popular game in the world?

Stakes are too high for technology to be ignored, so why is it? I think that FIFA should have a rethink on this matter.
