Human Health Network (HHN), an international NGO that supports children, Wednesday, donated scholastic and other materials worth close to Rwf 800,000 to Nkundabana Children’s Centre in Gacuriro, Gasabo District.

The items included scholastic material and hygienic items.  The NGO had earlier paid over Rwf 1.6 million for the children’s school fees.

According to the Country Coordinator of HHN, Esther Kronsbein, the donation was part of proceeds from handcrafts made by students under a separate project (Project Dairy Task) that is jointly run by HHN and Kigali City Council.

"Our support is to help these children to at least ensure that they have quality education,” Kronsbein said.

The head of Nkundabana Children’s Centre, Jason Rugero, welcomed the support, but urged parents to take good care of their children. He added that some of the children at the centre have parents but ran away from their families because of mistreatment.

Founded by Kigali City Council in 2001, the centre currently has 185 children in primary and secondary schools.
