Nyanza budget to address social welfare

NYANZA - The 2010/11 Nyanza District budget will mainly focus on rural development through increasing access to clean water and electricity. The District Advisory Council, chaired by Hormisdas Kambanda, approved the Rwf 6 billion budget last week with a majority vote from the district councillors.

NYANZA - The 2010/11 Nyanza District budget will mainly focus on rural development through increasing access to clean water and electricity.

The District Advisory Council, chaired by Hormisdas Kambanda, approved the Rwf 6 billion budget last week with a majority vote from the district councillors.

"The budget is intended to enable the district to attain social transformation and address key areas of social infrastructure needs that affect the area, such as lack of water, electricity and roads”. he said

The council also agreed that the water project be developed immediately.

Kambanda also stressed the importance of the budget, saying it was likely to impact on the social welfare in the district.

Within the overall budget framework over Rwf2.4billion will be contributed by development partners and a further Rwf 451 million  is anticipated from local sources.
