Seven set for Africa Youth Games

RWANDA will send a team of seven athletes to the maiden All Africa Youth Games due in Casablanca, Morocco from July 13-18. According to Thierry Ntwali, the Executive Director of Rwanda Olympic Committee, the athletes will use the event as a build up for the inaugural Youth Olympic Games set for Singapore in August.

RWANDA will send a team of seven athletes to the maiden All Africa Youth Games due in Casablanca, Morocco from July 13-18.

According to Thierry Ntwali, the Executive Director of Rwanda Olympic Committee, the athletes will use the event as a build up for the inaugural Youth Olympic Games set for Singapore in August.

The team is made up of three athletes Jacqueline Murekatete, Adeline Musabyeyezu and Yves Sikubwabo, two boxers Matusi Haziza and Peter Habyarimana and two swimmers Adeline Agahozo and Marie Iradukunda.

The Games will bring together 800 athletes from the continent. Other sporting disciplines to be contested in include basketball, football, gymnastics, judo, rowing, table tennis, tennis and wrestling among others.

Morocco has received US$1 million from Anoca (Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa) to help stage the event.
