The National Youth Week was concluded yesterday with President Paul Kagame emphasizing the key role  played by the youth in the development of the country.

During the Week, various activities were carried out, all contributing to the welfare of the Rwandan people. Officially, the Youth week has been concluded. However, the expected role of the youth in the reconstruction process, grows by the day.

Over the last sixteen years, enormous efforts have been made to bring Rwanda back on its feet. When one compares where Rwanda was in 1994 and where it is today, there is no doubt, it is nothing short of a miracle.

Rwandans are enjoying peace and stability with the unity and reconciliation programs registering remarkable success. For the country’s steady progress to be maintained, it is imperative that the youth stay active in government programs.

The youth in Rwanda has been mainstreamed and are playing key roles in government structures and other organs including parliament and they have been eminently visible in the decision making process.

The Government also supported the establishment and the running of the National Youth Council which, too, celebrated its 10th anniversary yesterday.

All these initiatives not only demonstrate the importance of the Youth, but also show the Government’s commitment to empower Rwanda’s future generation.
