EMMANUEL Ruterana and Jean Baptista Hakizimana have embarked on preparations for the sixth leg of the KCB East Africa Golf tour set for July 7-10 at Kitante golf club.

The pair, who left on Wednesday, is having a feel of the course greens and bunkers before the four-day showdown where the winner will pocket Rwf1.38m.

Ruterana, who finished second to Simon Ngigi in this month’s KCB Kigali leg which was held at Kigali Golf Club, told Times Sport that their early departure is aimed at giving them enough time to get acclimatized to the course.

"It is a good course but we need enough practice to get acquainted to the greens and fairways,” he said.

While the fourth leg (Arusha Open) was claimed by Uganda’s Deo Akope, Simon Ngigi reigned in Kigali to maintain his overall lead on the series.

Ruterana, 26, pocketed a consolation Rwf1m after falling short of Ngigi in the sudden-death play-off of the Kigali leg.
Jean Baptista Hakizimana kept his nerve to finish third and pocket Rwf 0.77m.

This year, the KCB group considerably upped their sponsorship from a mere Rwf7.125m to Rwf93.75m.
