The Netherland’s Minister of Justice, Dr. Ernst Hirsch Ballin, is today expected to pay an official visit to Rwanda following a similar visit by his Rwandan counterpart, Tharcisse Karugarama.

According to Karugarama, the visit is expected to cement the existing good relations between the two countries.
"There have been reasonably good relations between the two governments where the Dutch have helped our justice system through the construction of courtrooms and other justice infrastructure,” said Karugarama.

He expressed optimism that the visit will also reinforce judicial cooperation with the Kingdom of Netherlands, especially in tracking down Genocide fugitives who are hiding in the Netherlands.

Karugarama, who is also the Attorney General, added that the two ministries were hoping to establish exchange programmes in terms of capacity building of employees in the justice sector.

During his visit, the Dutch minister will meet senior government officials and also visit Genocide memorial sites and various judicial projects supported by his government.
