Regis Muramira is the Yello Sports Show football commentator on City Radio, 88.3 FM. His first live broadcast was during the 2008 CAN qualifiers game between Rwanda and Cameroon in 2006 at Amahoro stadium.

Born on January 27th,1982, in Butare currently Huye District, he attended Kabeza Primary School then Petit Seminaire Virgo Fideli Kambanda Butare and Groupe Scolaire official for his Secondary education.

Regis attained a Bachelors Degree in Food Science and Technology at Kigali Institute of Science and Technology (KIST).

"I started radio broadcasting in September 2005 at this same Radio station,” Regis narrates.

He said: "In 2007, Canal France International (CFI) offered a one month course in live broadcast for football events and I was among several participants from all over Africa.”
"The 12th IAAF World Championship of Berlin August 2009, CAN 2006, World Cup 2006, CAN 2010 and several tournaments I have been able to commentate.”

While commentating on Radio, Regis is usually with a co- commentator Fabrice who contributes in case Muramira takes a break to sip water.

One would think being a commentator is a walk over but constant stretching of the neck to watch the game while endlessly talking with the microphone blocking your view, is no easy work.

A lot of skill is used since the commentator has to balance the show with a little bit of history and background of either, the players or the team. Once the commentator is knowledgeable about the game the listeners are glued to their radios.

"I first make research before commentating for example, I had to compile all the information about the World Cup Tournament starting from the players, teams , referees, coaches, the stadiums and the history of the tournament into a folder,” Regis explains.

"Website such as fifa.com, goal.com, soccernet.com, tribal.com and Wikipedia are my sources of information,” he stressed.

Christian Saidon, the Director of Group Scolaire Ape Rugunga, is a favorite listener of Yello Sports Special. He said in a hyper mood that: "Regis‘s presentation is up to standard because he is always spot on, I enjoy the way he merges the history of the players while commentating during a live match.”

When Regis is commentating live World Cup games on City Radio, the listeners are glued to the show since they send in questions and comments about the game usually during first half breaks or at the end of the match.

"Although Argentina is my favorite team in the World cup tournament, Spain has more chances to win the tournament since the squad has some of the most skilled players,” Regis said.

Besides being a football commentator, Regis is passionate about Handball, which he played while at KIST.

"I have written a book "History of Rwandese football” in three different languages (Kinyarwanda, English and French) and produced its documentary on DVD which will be launched soon,” he said.

The 28-year- old says he is very single and searching. "My kind of woman should be trustworthy, innovative and loving,” he said.
