RWAMAGANA - The national coordinator for Rwandan Health Environment Protection Initiative (RHEPI), James Ruburitsibo, has urged residents in the Eastern Province to preserve the environment.

Ruburitsibo, an environmental expert, said this recently while addressing over 40 people attending one-day climate change workshop in Rwamagana district.

The workshop that brought together community leaders, civil servants, religious leaders, and agriculturalists was organised by RHEPI in conjunction with the Nile Basin Discourse Forum (NBDF).

"You should stand up and work together to preserve the environment. The world needs concerted efforts to conserve the environment,” Ruburitsibo said, stressing that environmental protection is the backbone to human life.

The workshop was part of a global campaign against global warming, which, world environmentalists attribute to poor environmental management and degradation.
