Horticulture meet gets underway

The Director General of Rwanda Horticulture Development Authority (RHODA), Dr Ndambe Nzaramba, has urged all horticulture stakeholders to always emphasize data collection.

The Director General of Rwanda Horticulture Development Authority (RHODA), Dr Ndambe Nzaramba, has urged all horticulture stakeholders to always emphasize data collection.

Nzaramba made the call yesterday at the opening of a two-day national workshop on Horticulture Data which was organized by RHODA in partnership with Belgium Technical Cooperation (BTC).

"Having basic Data on the situation on the ground is very important because it allows you to plan better and to avoid losses” Dr Nzaramba said.

He also requested participants to always share information regarding horticulture in order to have harmonized data on horticulture in the country.

Nzaramba encouraged farmers to always seek advice from RHODA and to also share information regards to horticulture with agency and the Ministry of Agriculture.

Speaking to The New Times, Nzaramba said that the main objective of the workshop was to find out how data on horticulture is collected, shared and used among farmers as well as  how it can be harmonized.

The seminar attracted participants from Rwanda Revenue Authority, the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, the National Bank of Rwanda, Ministry of Commerce and the National Institute of Statistics.
