Private sector urged to increase economic ventures

GICUMBI – The president of the Private Sector Federation (PSF), Robert Bayigamba, advised members of the private sector in Gicumbi district last week to step up investment ventures in order to boost the country’s economy.

GICUMBI – The president of the Private Sector Federation (PSF), Robert Bayigamba, advised members of the private sector in Gicumbi district last week to step up investment ventures in order to boost the country’s economy. 

"The private sector is a major source of income for the nation through payment of taxes and creation of employment for many youth, thereby boosting Rwanda’s economy and improving the socio- economic wellbeing of many residents,” said Bayigamba.  

He was addressing members of the district private sector at Gicumbi district conference hall.

Mayor Bonane Nyangezi urged members of the private sector to work hand in hand with local and district authorities to boost their economic ventures.  

He hailed the district private sector for putting up modern commercial buildings in Byumba town and rehabilitating buildings in all trading centers of the district. 

The chairman of Gicumbi district private sector, Gratien Mupenzi, urged the district business community to pay taxes promptly and desist from corruption. 

"Corruption is an enemy to development, which is why we should cooperate with relevant government organs to eradicate the vice,” said Mupenzi.  

Also present at the meeting were representatives of Rwanda Development Board (RDB) and Ministry of Finance officials.
