In collaboration with students from the United States, pupils of Kabwende Primary Centre (KPC) located in Kinigi, Northern Province have authored a book titled ‘The world is our home.’ This is the second volume of the book written by the students from the two countries.

The books are published under the project called ‘Books and Beyond’ that connects te KPC, Indiana University’s Global Village Living-Learning Centre and TEAM Schools in USA.

The project was established in 2008.
According to Lauren Caldarera, the Assistant Director of Global Village Living-Learning Center, the project fosters critical thinking skills as the students author, illustrate, publish and market an anthology of children’s stories.

"The stories are used as a tool to aid in teaching English to the students at Kabwende Primary School,” Caldarera said in a statement released yesterday.

The official added that the books help students to put their English skills to use by writing stories of their own which are combined with those written in the US, hence creating a cross-cultural anthology.

This year’s volume contains 47 stories.
