The Rwf5.5bilion hospital will be financed by the Health ministry, and comes as a fulfillment of President Paul Kagame’s pledge to Kinazi residents.

"We need healthy people and this can be achieved if all residents take preventive measures against diseases,” he said.

The new health facility will be completed in a year’s time, and will serve over 20,000 residents of Kinazi, Ntongwe, and Mbuye sectors in Ruhango district.

It is also expected to serve residents Busoro sector in Nyanza and Mugina sector in Kamonyi districts.

Kinazi residents have been trekking about 44 km to reach the nearest health facility at Gitwe referral hospital, in Bweramana sector.

HYGEBAT Enterprise & EDC have been contracted to build the hospital. Meanwhile, some residents complained that they are yet to be compensated for their property which was destroyed on the construction site.
