Vipers part ways with coach Robertinho

Uganda Premier League outfit Vipers SC has confirmed they parted ways with head coach Robertinho Oliviera on mutual consent.

In 2018, Rwanda premier league side, Rayon Sports was appointed Brazilian Roberto Oliveira Goncalves do Carmo who was replacing Ivan Minneart.

The Venoms confirmed in a statement released on Thursday evening, December 29.

"Vipers Sports Club announces that Roberto Oliveira alias Robertinho has left his role as the head coach with immediate effect,” club statement reads in part.

"The club would like to thank Robertinho for his tireless efforts as the head coach during his time at the club and wish him success in the future. The Club shall in the shortest time possible come out with a statement on the technical bench leadership following the coach’s departure,” the statement adds.

Media reports in Tanzania indicate the Brazilian tactician is close to taking over at Simba SC as the club new head coach.

Robertinho joined Vipers in August 2021 and helped the team to win the Uganda Premier League title last season.

He also led the team into the group stages of the ongoing CAF Champions League for the first time.

He leaves the club in third place in the ongoing 2022–2023 UPL season with 27 points, just two adrift of table leaders KCCA FC.
