The Ministry of Health (MoH) has donated over 26,000 mosquito nets to the national police to be distributed among police families.

The donation was handed over to the force at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters in Kacyiru by the Minister of Health, Dr. Richard Sezibera.

Each family will get three mosquito nets.
Sezibera commended the national police for its commitment to support Rwandans, especially in ensuring a healthy community during the police medical week.

"Ensuring security is not only fighting crimes, but also carrying out activities that are in line with the country’s development,” Sezibera noted.

"The national police, as part of the Rwandan community, should also be supported to execute its duties well. These nets are therefore, a donation for you to be malaria free and be able to perform your duties well. ” He added.

He appealed to them to cooperate with health agencies in the fight against malaria in the country by sensitizing Rwandans on the scourge.

Sezibera who pledged to help police health centres in all provinces and its hospital, appealed to the force to beware AIDS, to abstain, be loyal to their wives and husbands and or have protected sex.

"AIDS infection in the national police is still low, but, it can rise if no measures are done to protect you,” he said.
The Commissioner General of Police, Emmanuel Gasana, thanked the MoH for the support it had extended to the force and their partnership during the medical week.

"We cannot achieve our targets if there is no partnership with other institutions,” he noted adding that fighting poverty and conserving the environment is also part of ensuring security in the country.
