KARONGI - Schools countrywide are receiving free text books in a drive aimed at improving education standards through promoting the culture of reading and writing.
The books were donated by Fountain Publishers Rwanda.

Handing over the books to head teachers of schools in Karongi District in the Western Province, Mutesi Gasana, the company’s Marketing Executive, encouraged both students and teachers to embrace the culture of reading.
She said; "In order to collectively improve the quality of education, you should make use of these books by adopting a culture of reading and writing. The students should also be encouraged to do the same.”

Most head teachers who received a sample of available copies yesterday expressed optimism and determination to improve the standard of education in their schools.

"We now have a variety of reading material and must utilize the opportunity in order to significantly improve the quality of education in our schools,” Patrice Murwanashyaka, the head teacher of Groupe Scholare Bubazi, in Rubengera Sector said.
