RWANDA will next month host the Pan African Dance Festival (FESPAD) International Conference prior to the main event slated for July 24- 31.

This year’s is the 7th Edition of FESPAD and will be celebrated under the theme: "Traditional dance, precious potential in creative industries.”

The two-day conference, dubbed "The creative economy, perspective in Africa will take place from July 27—28 at Kigali Serena.

During the conference, several national and foreign experts will discuss, among others, matters concerning music, dance, film and digital media.

"There are many artists, creators, designers and painters in the country, but only a few take their careers professionally,” said Emmanuel Bugingo, the Managing Director FESPAD.

Bugingo explained that the conference is an opportunity for local artists to learn professional skills from the experts.
"We want local artists to professionalise their careers in order to contribute to the economic development of the country,” Bugingo said. "We also intend to create partnerships with foreign artists as a way of improving the sector.”

It is against this background that the cultural manifestation of FESPAD is willing to promote a new face of Africa and Rwanda in particular.
