The Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF) authorities, on Wednesday evening, arrested Brig. Gen. Jean Bosco Kazura for absconding from duty and travelling without permission.

According to the Army Spokesperson, Lt. Col. Jill Rutaremara, Kazura who heads Training and Operations (J3) in RDF, had travelled to South Africa for the World Cup without permission.

Brig. Gen. Kazura is also the president of FERWAFA – the country’s football governing body.

"He had travelled to South Africa for the World Cup but, all officers travelling out of the country are required to seek permission, which he did not do. He was, therefore, recalled and arrested,” Rutaremara said.
