Editor,

I would like to commend the efforts of all health and women organizations worldwide, for their relentless efforts to protect all women from catching HIV/AIDS.

There has been measurable progress in the fight against the HIV/AIDS scourge. Even though AIDS is the leading killer of women aged 15-44 in the world, fewer women are dying during pregnancy or childbirth than at any point in time in the past 30 years.

It’s time for women to protect themselves against HIV, no matter what situation they are in. It’s clear that we need to focus on solving issues at the same time if we are to make a significant and lasting impact on the lives of Africa’s women.

While innovative ways to give women more control over their health are in the pipeline, working together to build on past successes is what counts.
