EMMANUEL Ruterana is raring to go in next month’s KCB East Africa Golf Tour Nakuru leg after a fruitful display in the just ended Kigali leg.

The 28-year-old’s season gained pace on Saturday, when he fell agonizingly short of his first tournament win of the year at Kigali Golf Club.

His final round of 72 left him joint top with Simon Ngige to force a sudden death play-off. Both players returned pars on hole one but Ngige eventually sailed home after a par on the second hole while Ruterana could only manage a bogey.

Speaking to Times Sport yesterday, Ruterana said, "I was pleased with the way I fought back in the last two rounds. I kept my composure and was just unfortunate not to finish off the job in the play-off.”

"I now have the confidence I need to play in the Nakuru leg,” Ruterana, who had had to wait for over seven months for top three finish added.

Fellow countryman Jean Baptista Hakizimana finished third while the Kenyan duo of Jacob Okello and M Ngugi rounded off the top five slots.

It was however, a very disappointing event for Richard Ainley who relinquished top spot after returning a five-over-par 77 in the final round to finish joint sixth with Anil Shah on 295.

The next leg will be held at the Nakuru Golf Club in Kenya from June 16-17 before proceeding to Kampala on July 7-10.

The 2010 KCB East African Golf tour is a series of eight tournaments staged in Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Uganda.
