Kigali City authorities are set to release four Physical Detailed Master Plans (PDMPs) next month as part of the continued efforts to put in place a clear roadmap for the city’s development.

Alphonse Nizeyimana, the city Vice Mayor in charge of finance and economic development disclosed this yesterday in an exclusive interview with The New Times.

The plans are for Masaka in Kicukiro District which will be both a residential and business centre, Kinyinya (Gasabo) which will also be a residential area.

Others also in Gasabo are Rebero, to be the ‘high end residential and hospitality facilities site and Kimihurura which will be a commercial and a hospitality area.

"These four PDMPs are about to be completed and we hope they will be launched next month (July),” Nizeyimana said.

This will bring the number of PDMPs to five since the approval of Kigali City Conceptual Plan in 2008 following the launch of the Central Business District (CBD) December last year as a regional financial hub.

Nizeyimana also said that all other plans for the city will be released before the end of next year.

The Kigali City Conceptual Plan and the PDMPs are part of the implementation of the Vision 2020.
