The Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF) has promoted 18 Lieutenant Colonels to the rank of Colonel  in a general promotion of  2,050 officers.

They include 98 who were elevated to Lieutenant Colonel, 205 to Major, 697 to Captain, 879 to Lieutenants and 153 Second Lieutenants.

"The President and Commander-in-Chief conveyed   a congratulatory message to all the officers who have advanced in rank and wished them a successful career,” said the Army and Defence Spokesperson, Jill Rutaremara, who was himself promoted from Major to Lieutenant Colonel.

The new Colonels are; Richard Masozera, Emmanuel Ndahiro, Vincent Gatama, Peter Kalimba, Chris Murari, Bagret Goodman Ruzibiza and Laurien Nkuriye.

Others are Willy Bagabe, Alphonse Gahima, John Baptiste Ngiruwonsanga, Jean Bosco Kananga, Gidéon Hodari, Patrick Gashumba, J J Laurent Mupenzi, Innocent Kabandana, Callixte Kanimba, Emmanuel Bayingana and Rugumya Gacinya.”
