Rwanda was selected as the global host of the World Environment Day celebrations. One of the reasons for this achievement is the country’s community work policy, ‘Umuganda’ that takes place every last Saturday of the month.

The New Times’ LINDA MBABAZI spoke to some Rwandans about their environment.

"I participate in tree planting as well as in Umuganda. I’ve planted flowers and trees at home and watered them every evening and morning. I call myself an environmentalist!”
