Cabinet reshuffles senior police officers

KIGALI - The Cabinet chaired by President Paul Kagame at Urugwiro Village last Friday reshuffled some senior police officers, appointing Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), John Bosco Kabera as the Commissioner for Human Resources Management and Support Services Department.

KIGALI - The Cabinet chaired by President Paul Kagame at Urugwiro Village last Friday reshuffled some senior police officers, appointing Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), John Bosco Kabera as the Commissioner for Human Resources Management and Support Services Department.

Kabera who has been the traffic police chief, replaces Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), Reverien Rugwizangoga who was previously referred to as the Director of Administration and Personnel. 

The meeting also appointed ACP Emmanuel Butera as the Commissioner for Operations and Public Order Department while ACP Christophe Bizimungu was confirmed as the Commissioner for Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

Prior to his appointment, Butera was in charge of Community Policing in the force. He replaces CSP Celestin Twahirwa in an office previously known as the Directorate of Operations.

Jimmy Hodari and Faustin Kalisa, both promoted to the rank of ACP from CSP were appointed Commissioners for Finance and Intelligence Departments respectively.

According to the minutes of the Cabinet, Major General, Edzai Absolom Chanyuka Chimonyo was also approved as Zimbabwe’s new Ambassador to Rwanda with residence in Tanzania.

Other ambassadors, who include Japhet Isaack (Namibia), Agis Loizou (Cyprus) and Khaleb M. Abdel Rahaman Abadel Satam (Egypt), were also accredited.
Jeanine Kambanda was recommended to be Rwanda’s Ambassador to Singapore.

Also appointed are Benedegito Nshimiyimana and Lucas Murenzi the 1st Counsellor and Commercial Attaché respectively in Japan, Eugene Ngoga, 1st Counsellor, (Ottawa- Canada) Olivier Nduhungirehe, 1st Counsellor (New York) and Alfred Ndabarasa 1st Counsellor (New Delhi).

Others are Mucyo Rutishisha 2nd Counsellor (New Delhi), Justine Mbabazi 1st Counsellor (Washington), Fidele Mironko 2nd Counsellor (Washington), Bonny Musefano, Commercial Attaché (Washington) and Guillaume Kavaruganda, 1st Counsellor (Holland).
