DEAR EDITOR,

I read in your paper yesterday that A total of 9, 000 rural homes will get electricity once the three micro-hydropower plants being constructed in the districts of Rubavu and Rutsiro are completed next year.

It goes without saying that such initiatives only stand to improve the living standards of the Rwandan people.  And, the fact that most of the families have school going children -  more so with the 9 years basic education - lighting at home will also promote the culture of reading.

I would like to thank all those involved in lighting rural homes because the difference they will make will be enormous.
