Sam Ssimbwa a.k.a Mourinho has lauded his former club for their continued progress in the national league and for stopping APR’s unbeaten run on Tuesday.

Now coach of Uganda’s Express Fc, Ssimbwa made the remarks moments after Atraco came from behind to defeat rivals APR 2-1 win at Amahoro stadium.

Ssimbwa who is on holiday in the country said, "I came to check on my friends and also see how far my former club has gone,” he hilariously said.
 
"Today’s game was very exciting. Atraco played very well. Defended well and made a number of surprise counter-attacks. I think they deserved to win,” he noted.

Before tipping his former employers, now coached by Capt. Jean Marie Ntagwabira to a top two spot finish, which could give them a chance to play continental football depending on who wins the league.

If APR, who have already won the Amahoro Cup goes on to win the league, a team that finishes second, represents Rwanda in the Caf Confederations Cup.

"If they can maintain this kind of aggression and determination, they stand high chances of finishing in the top two league spots,” the Ugandan continued.

Ssimbwa parted company with Atraco citing a series of irreconcilable differences with the club management.

During his one-year tenure at the club, he led the newly promoted club to the finals of the highly-cherished Amahoro Cup and a second spot finish in the 2006-2007 National Primus National League.
