As part of the ongoing campaign to bring tax services closer to the people, Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA), Tuesday, opened three new branches in Nyarugenge, Gasabo and Kicukiro districts.

Eugene Torero, RRA Deputy Commissioner General and Commissioner for Customs, presided over the function held at Resident Hotel in Nyabugogo, Nyarugenge district.

The branches will mainly serve small and medium taxpayers, and according to Torero, tax payers have been travelling long distances to seek RRA services.

"We have been urging you (tax payers) to pay taxes as stipulated by the law. It’s, therefore, our responsibility to avail to you the required facilities. By being responsible tax payers, you are choosing development,” Torero said.

Molly Rwigamba, the acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Private Sector Federation (PSF), observed that some taxpayers have been paying taxes they are not supposed to.

"We now hope that RRA will simplify its tax administration to help the small and medium taxpayers,” Rwigamba said.
RRA is currently celebrating Taxpayers’ Day at the Provincial level.

Torero revealed that plans are underway to open other branches upcountry.
