Gicumbi women get IT skills

GICUMBI - A total of 15 National Women Council Sector representatives have concluded a two weeks course in basic IT, at Gicumbi Telecenter. Gicumbi district National women council representative, Mary Claire Uzamukunda, said that the course was conducted by the National council for women in partnership with e-Rwanda Project.

GICUMBI - A total of 15 National Women Council Sector representatives have concluded a two weeks course in basic IT, at Gicumbi Telecenter.  

Gicumbi district National women council representative, Mary Claire Uzamukunda, said that the course was conducted by the National council for women in partnership with e-Rwanda Project. 

"The course is aimed at empowering women with IT basics, to enable them manage women cooperatives by writing project proposals using Microsoft word and communicating with their business partners through the internet,” Uzamukunda said. 

One of the participants from Ruvune Sector, Olive Umugwaneza, said the course will enable her run her agriculture produce business effectively.  

"I have mastered Microsoft word, Internet and power point. This will enable me look for market of my agriculture products by use of Internet and carry out mathematics calculations of my capital or profits using the computer,” said Umugwaneza. 

The IT course manager, Theoneste Ntarindwa, said the training was a nationwide ongoing program, currently in 15 districts.
