KENYAN athletes extended their dominance in the Kigali International Peace marathon as they swept all honours in the full and half marathon races yesterday at Amahoro stadium.

Peter Limo led a 1-2-3 finish in the 41.195 km after clocking two hours, 19 minutes and 44 seconds to pocket $2500. David Tuwe and Felix Kipchirchir finished second and third respectively.

Rwanda’s top performer was Gervais Nizeyimana in sixth place after clocking two hours, 24 minutes and nine seconds.

Kenya’s Divina Jepkogei set a new record, clocking two hours, 46 minutes and seven seconds to win gold in the women category.

Moving on to the half marathon, Kenyans were still in high gear. Philemon Yator won the event in a time of one hour, four minutes and seven seconds. Burundi’s Ezechiel Nizigiyimana finished second while Peter Kosgei completed the medal bracket.

Home boy Godfrey Rutayisire finished a distant eleventh with a time of one hour, nineteen minutes and eight seconds.

In the women category, it was a 1-2 finish for Kenya as Hellen Jemutai and Friday Lodepa claimed the race. Tanzania’s Joseph Restituta clocked one hour, 16 minutes and 23 seconds to finish third.

Claudette Mukasakindi finished fifth in 1:19:08 while Epiphanie Nyirabarame clocked 1:20:33 to finish seventh.
