Suzan’s mother failed to attend her wedding ceremony because the groom was a Muslim. Marriage is not based on Religion single-handedly but other factors as well. Most religious principles   do not advocate the marrying of someone who does not share your beliefs.

Within religious values, at least one or two of them discuss the fact that those are not real marriages in the eyes of that faith.

So if your spouse does not share your beliefs, are you not really married to them in the religious sense? Is your relationship a worldly union and if so - what is the difference. I interviewed people to get their say on the issue.

It depends on one’s beliefs and family, for example if your family is of a Catholic faith then there are tough measures levied upon you if you marry someone from any other religious conviction. Most of the family members will not attend your wedding union hence it will not be blessed at all.

I don’t think so, however it all depends on the couple and how they extensively discuss and handle the issue.

Religion should not influence marriage at all because this kind of set up is based on love and liking while Religion is a belief that changes with time.

Marriage should not be influenced by Religion, since one can get married in a particular religion of the spouse, but later go to another domain of belief and they live happily ever after.

HUSSEIN DUSABE (MANAGER)

Though I was brought up in a Muslim fraternity, I believe marriage should entirely base on love. The mutual feeling of love transcends any belief.

ELVIS NUWAGABA (PARENT)

I think marriage can not be influenced by Religion, as long as the couple has a strong bond of love, then they are capable of attaining anything and I advise parents never to intervene in their children’s relationship because at the end of the day the matrimony vows are between the couple.
