Editor,

This is in reference to your article entitled :” 95 % in Rwanda believe in EAC .” Survey.

Compared to the other EAC countries , as many as 95 % of Rwandans believe that the country will gain from the Common Market , which will come into effect on 1 July, 2010.

This definitely reflects the strong political will of the Rwandan Government and the effective marketing and promotional campaigns launched by the concerned agencies to educate the public at large and make them aware of the enormous benefits which Rwanda will derive from the Common Market.

The Common Market will surely open up new avenues and opportunities for Rwanda as a result of the free movement of services , capital and labour between the five EAC countries and will help Rwanda in developing inter-regional trade , now targetting a population of 130 million people and a GDP of  US$ 73 billion !

The Common Market will , likewise , also enable foreign investors who have made Rwanda their base or hub to do business more effectively with the other four EAC countries , thereby enhancing the thrust into the region and resulting in a win-win situation.

Wishing Rwanda every success in the Common Market.
