Rwf 1.5b for capacity development

The Public Sector Capacity Building Secretariat (PSCBS) and Belgian Development Agency (BTC) allocated a total amount of 1.5 billion Francs (equivalent of 2 million Euros) for capacity development of local government entities.

A one-day workshop that was held by PSCBS in partnership with the Rwandan Association of Local Government Authorities (RALGA) on 14th May 2010 at La palisse Nyandungu for 90 local government representatives of all the Districts, was officiated by the Executive Secretary PSCBS, Stella Ford Mugabo in regards to capacity development.

During the workshop, Mugabo said that the priority areas for intervention included land and cooperative management, data collection management and benchmarking visits to share and disseminate best practices among local government entities.

"The participants of this workshop will come up with thoughts on the ownership and proper designed packages for their projects” Mugabo explained.   

The members who attended this workshop included Executive Secretaries of all the 30 districts and district officials in charge of cooperative and land management.

They were facilitated with dialogues on project proposals by the National Land Commission (NLC), RALGA, RCL   with gathered baseline information. The implementation of capacity developments projects envisaged to start in July 2010.
