Take part in gov’t programmes, Habineza urges youth

The Minister of Sports and Culture, Joseph Habineza, has called on the youth to be innovative and take part in the country’s developmental programmes.

The Minister of Sports and Culture, Joseph Habineza, has called on the youth to be innovative and take part in the country’s developmental programmes.

Habineza made the call yesterday while opening a Schools Competition Week, the fifth week of celebrations to mark the 10th anniversary the National Police that was attended by thousands of students from several schools in Kigali
"Peace and security are key aspects in development.

But to achieve this, it should not be an effort by one person or group, but a responsibility of all Rwandans, especially you the youth,” said Habineza.

He urged them to embrace Rwanda’s culture of partnership to achieve targeted goals in the shortest time possible and appealed to them to always report any cases of insecurity to ensure a crime-free country.

The minister thanked the police’s vision of bringing all Rwandans together, especially in its 10th anniversary celebrations.

"Rwandans are privileged to have a disciplined police which is available when need arises,” he observed

The Commissioner General of Police, Emmanuel Gasana, observed that the youth are the determinants of the country’s future.

"This is why we did not forget them. Involving the youth in all development aspects will also help the country achieve its Vision 2020,” he observed.

The event which included a 10-kilometre race, will also include essay and poetry writing competitions among students.

The competitions, to be done in English, French and Kinyarwanda in all districts, will award the three best writers in each district, The best in each language used will be awarded at the national level.
