One People Concert cancelled
Friday, December 23, 2022

The One People Concert during which Tanzania musician Diamond Platnumz was expected to perform was cancelled at the last minute. The artiste blamed it on organisers and promised to make it up to Rwandans.

Diamond announced the concert on social media, saying, "This Dec 23rd BK ARENA, KIGALI RWANDA...A Night and Show to remember!.” Local artistes Bushali, Confy, Kivumbi King, Ariel Wayz, Logan Joe and Jowest were also on the lineup as curtain raisers, while NepDJs and DJ Pyfo were expected to mix.

Diamond was set to arrive in Kigali on December 22, but didn't, which raised questions on whether the show was still on.

"Due to unseriousness and recklessness on the part of the organisers, I'm heartbroken to inform you that our show in Kigali-Rwanda scheduled today on the 23rd of December, 2022 will not take place," Diamond posted.

He added, "My management and lawyer are working on it. I am optimistic about the next event, I will soon announce the new date for my performance in Kigali. Simba loves you Rwanda, see you soon.”

Two hours of Diamond sharing this, East Gold Ltd, the organisers, in their announcement said that the event got canceled due to unforeseen circumstances and added, "East Gold ltd expresses deep apologies to all Rwandans, with information to be announced soon about the postponement.”

BK Arena also released a statement of the event's cancellation, saying that they are as disappointed as the patrons since 'they have no control over the matter.'

BK Arena highlighted that ticket holders are entitled to full refunds as soon as possible. They also promised that other events like Icyambu Live Concert, Dutty December and East African Party are still happening.
