Kagame receives new Chinese envoy

President Paul Kagame yesterday received the new Chinese ambassador to Rwanda, Sun Shuzhong.

Shuzhong presented his credentials to the President during a function held at Village Urugwiro.

The new envoy replaces Qu De’en, who wound up his term of service in Kigali two months ago.

In his short statement to the media, Shuzhong promised to build on the existing relationship between the two countries.

Rwanda and China have strong bilateral ties.
Chinese investors and companies have over the recent past had increased interest in Rwanda.

Last year, the two countries recorded a total turn-over of more than $34 million, according reports quoting Chinese embassy in Kigali.
