Should Facebook be Banned at Workplaces?

Ban, Ban, Ban Facebook! If there is any contagious syndrome that is useless at work, it’s Facebook. Yes, all votes go to Facebook for creating incompetent lazybones at work. I just wonder why it’s this addictive but personally, I would sue any company that permits its workers to use Facebook without any limitations.

Gone are the days when cocaine, alcohol and cigarettes were addictive, now the only addictive drug that affects productivity at work is Facebook!

There are thousands of reasons as to why Facebook doesn’t measure up, as a social network to be permitted for any reasonable work place. In fact, Facebook should be banned and addicted users heavily penalized if need be.

Like the Kinyarwanda proverb says, ‘imirimo ibiri yananiye impyisi’ meaning ‘no one can ever handle two activities at a go. This is further emphasized in the Bible, ‘No one can serve two masters at a go because they end up liking one master more than the other.’

In this case, Facebook will always be the preferred master at a work place.

If a person can forego their lunch because they want to chat with that ballistic Facebook friend, then what happens to the boring work on their desk? They will definitely leave it undone.

Woe to Photoshop! Sure every girl or dude looks so fair in their Facebook pictures to the extent that working people prefer getting sacked than lose a hot catch.

And if I may ask, what’s the benefit of Facebook? If one uses Facebook to publicize a brand it’s understandable, but how many of you ever thought of going beyond chatting and telling the whole world about how you feel, through your status updates?

And before you get sacked, who of your Facebook friends will ever like you when you are a jobless fool, because you are over addicted to Facebook!

Speaking of career building, Facebook has become a big threat. No one can ever improve their work productivity with infectious Facebook at their disposal?

It’s funny that Facebook makes life a dream. No wonder people forget their background goals in life and concentrate on living in Facebook dreamland.

Before some companies know it, they will have a bunch of dreamers for workers. And do you know what comes next? Bankruptcy due to lost credibility!

Also company secrets spread like a wildfire through Facebook. Some people use Facebook to defame companies or people. If not well taken care of, Facebook can become dangerous.

If you were in Christian Ronaldo’s shoes you would understand exactly what I mean.

All along, this famous footballer kept thinking that he was chatting with his beautiful ex-girlfriend only to find a muscular guy, who was after his life, when they finally met. Instead of being a victim to such, why not ban and avoid Facebook at your work stations?

And why misuse company property. Is it indicated somewhere in your contract that you were given that computer to Facebook?

Any company whose ethics are based on career building, credibility and development should waive Facebook.

Otherwise they risk paying dearly for losses incurred due to the social network that is eating up the working community like a bush fire.
