I was impressed to learn that our national police joined in the fight against malaria by distributing mosquito nets as part of their 10th anniversary celebrations.

Although government has registered significant achievements as regards battling malaria, the burden is still visible with some children and mothers still dying as a result of such a preventable disease.

Efforts like those of the national police are therefore very commendable and certainly our country will soon register malaria as an issue of the past.

The public should also spearhead other efforts like clearing bushes and report malaria cases to health facilities as soon as possible.
