"My teacher has always told us to play a role in protecting our environment by planting trees at school and home,” said Robert Nzigiye, 12, P.5, Remera Catholic Primary School.

He explained that among other measures, cleaning our surroundngs keeps environment beautiful.

Christine Uwera, 11, a P.6 student at Good Foundation Primary School said that the environment should not only be considered when people come together during environment day celebrations.

"We should not wait until we have to celebrate events about the environment before we plant trees,” she said.

According to Charles Rusimbi, in charge of Youth and Cooperatives in Kigali City, "youths have played a role in keeping the city clean and green by planting trees.”
