Beauty:Grooming; Cleaning under the armpits

There is nothing which beats a good bathe or shower in the morning and the refreshing feeling that follows.

Now, imagine getting into a taxi in the morning and sitting next to someone who feels that they should put their arms around you with their smelling armpits!

The sight of a person who sweats and smells under their armpits puts me off and makes me loose my appetite. One day I had to pray aloud on a public transport for God to answer my prayers of buying myself a car just so that nobody else wraps their smelling self around me- it is so irritating. These people who smell like dried whale meat are the same ones who like wrapping their arms on people in the public taxis.

We are not just talking of the mama mboga’s or karani nguvu in the markets here, we are talking of the so called civilized and learned friends.

I have met very beautiful sisters and good looking young men holding very impressive CV’s and good jobs to boot, who apart from them looking dashing in the way they dress, the pungent smell under their armpits suggests otherwise.

Keeping armpits shaved and clean is not only a tip to good grooming or beauty but also to a healthy lifestyle. There are different reasons as to why some people have pungent smell under their armpits and don’t know how to help themselves, Let us look at the simple methods on how to groom oneself to stop this pungent smell.

Proper personal hygiene
If one has got some bad body odor, they should shower or bathe at least twice a day and use a good antibacterial soap or a good shower and bath creams.

Some soaps also tend to make some people smell under their armpits because of the soap ingredients, so it is wise for someone to get a good soap which does not leave oils on the body. It’s also important to only use towels once to avoid bacteria and sweat recycling

Food diet
Because the body exudes toxins through the skin, the things one eat can make someone stink. Eating red meat and caffeine also make some people smell, because they can cause excessive sweating.

Other things to avoid are fatty foods, fried foods, refined sugars, and overly processed foods. If one has a fishy smelling body odor, there’s a good chance one’s body has a hard time processing chorine.

Chorine is a nutrient found in fish, eggs, liver, and beans. Other things that one can avoid bad body odor, avoid alcohol and tobacco.

In the meantime, there are plenty of good foods available that do not contribute to body odor. Almost all fruits and vegetables fall into that category, especially foods that are high in chlorophyll (a natural purifier and odor eliminator) like parsley, spinach, kale, and other leafy greens.

Breads and nuts are good, too. Like I said before, eat foods that aren’t highly processed. Go into any natural foods store and start shopping. Just skip the red meat section.

Fabrics and Anti-perspirants
Wear clothes that breathe, such as cotton or silk, and make sure they’re clean. Never re-wear clothes without washing them.

Don’t sleep in a dirty bed either. Change and wash your bedding at least once a week. After the laundry is done, start shaving.

Men and women, shave your pits and your genitals. Hairs provide a lot of surface area for bacteria to grow on. Excessive armpit hair also makes it more difficult for you to actually hit your skin with deodorant.

Another common body odor control method is the use of absorbent powders. There are a number of things you can use for this, such as plain old baking soda, cornstarch, talcum powder, or any one of the body powders available commercially.

After a shower, once you’re all dried off, sprinkle or dab the powder on your smelly spots.

Sweating the body out
If your body is exuding smelly toxins that make you stink, wouldn’t it make sense to hurry up and get rid of them? By causing yourself to sweat, you clear your pores of those toxins more quickly.

There’s a number of ways to do this. Exercise, of course, is the most obvious. However, sweating can also be achieved by sitting in a sauna or a hot tub for awhile. Whatever you do, shower afterwards and wash the stink off.

Before you attempt to sweat the stink out of yourself, make sure you’re properly hydrated - drinking lots of water helps to flush your system.
