Equity Market

This week the Rwanda OTC market had a turnover of Rwf 341,500 from 1,900 KCB shares traded in two recorded transactions.

The shares traded between Rwf 179 and Rwf 180. For the week KCB shares closed Rwf 2 lower than the previous week’s closing of Rwf 182.  At the end of the session, there were no offers or bids.

This week on the Nairobi Stock Exchange (NSE). KCB shares hit a low of 22.25 Kshs (Rwf165) and a high of 23.25 Kshs (Rwf172). 

On Thursday, a total of 607, KCB shares were traded and closed at 22.50 Kshs (167Rfw). The NSE All share index closed the week slightly higher at 91.26 compared to the previous week’s closing of 90.13.

The Bond Market:
Today marked the official listing of the fifth government bond since the commencement of trading on the ROTC on January 31st, 2008. This bond valued at Rwf 1.5 billion.

The bond will mature in 2013 with periodic interest of 9.75% per annum. The listing thus brings the total outstanding bonds at Rwf 10 billion.

A total of Rwf 100,000 (one hundred Rwandan francs) worth of Treasury bonds were transacted in one deal at the price of 101.91 yielding 9% to maturity. 

At the close of business, there was Rwf 200 million government bonds bid and there were no sellers.

There was no transaction on the BCR bond.
