Water supply is back in affected areas.

Editor,

As someone who has been suffering from the lack of piped water, along with my neighbors in Kagugu, its heartwarming to read in yesterday’s Sunday Times that RECO-RWASCO on Friday had finished repairing the broken water pipe in Nyabugogo.

This is quite important because through it almost a quarter of the water supplied to Kigali was, and is channeled.

The damage to the pipe hadn’t only caused water shortage in Kagugu but also areas ranging from Kicukiro, Gisozi, Remera, Rwampara, Mburabuturo and Nyabarongo.

We are lucky that the Gisozi water pump, which is only used in emergencies, somewhat alleviated the situation. Because of this water shortage I had been forced to pay exorbitant amounts to the touts that sold water in jerry cans.

Twenty liters of water cost a cool five hundred francs; so imagine how much water I had to buy with three young children.

It was backbreaking. I’m happy that RECO-RWASCO fixed this problem as promptly as possible. Keep up the good work.
