As part of the ongoing celebrations to mark the 10th anniversary of the national police, the force has now began sensitizing students in primary and secondary schools across the country to be part of the fight against crime, especially drug abuse.

Police spokesperson, Eric Kayiranga, said yesterday that the habit has been discovered in some schools.

"We would like to ensure that it’s fought by all means and the students should be part of the fight,” Kayiranga noted.

He added that generally, drug abuse in the country has been on the decrease in the last two years, attributing this to efforts put in place by the excellent partnership between police and residents who report dealers.

The Police spokesman added that the police would soon initiate anti-crime clubs in schools.

They are also sensitizing transport associations and people in the hospitality industry (bars, hotels and restaurants) to be part of crime prevention.
