Minister impressed by SULFO’s safety measures

The Minister of Public Service and Labour, Anastase Murekezi, has hailed SULFO Rwanda Industries, for having good strategies that conform to government directives on occupational health and safety at the workplace.

The Minister of Public Service and Labour, Anastase Murekezi, has hailed SULFO Rwanda Industries, for having good strategies that conform to government directives on occupational health and safety at the workplace.

He made the remarks while on the tour of SULFO premises to assess the Occupational Safety and Health (OS&H) of the employees.

"I am very impressed by SULFO’s strategies because they are in line with the government’s directives concerning OS and H of the employees,” he said.

Murekezi added that the industry is doing well in terms of ensuring safety and health of the workers.

"You’re an important industry to our economy, so we are committed to cooperate closely with you in terms of promoting the safety and health of the workers,” he noted.

The minister also hailed the company for having a clean production process adding that a clean environment promotes and increases production output.

Speaking to The New Times, H. Dharmarajan, the Director General of SULFO Industries, said that, his company is committed to create more awareness on safety matters by training and sensitizing the employees.

"We expect our employees to comply with the company’s occupational safety and health policies, procedures and to conduct themselves in a safe manner not placing themselves or others at risk,” he said.

Dharmarajan added that compliance to safety is every employee’s responsibility and all employees have the authority to stop their work process in case of unsafe conditions at work.
